UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) is the government department that helps UK based companies succeed in international markets and assists overseas companies to bring high quality investment to the UK’s dynamic economy. UKTI employs approximately 2,300 staff, of whom over 1,200 are overseas and 1,000 are in the UK. We operate in 162 locations, in 96 markets. Staff overseas are based in British embassies and other diplomatic offices around the world. UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) has two offices in Vietnam. One in Hanoi the capital city and the other in Ho Chi Minh City in the South. UK companies that have a specific enquiry relating to Hanoi, Hai Phong and Da Nang should direct their enquiry to the Embassy in Hanoi.
Enquiries relating to Ho Chi Minh City, Vung Tau, Nha Trang (ie south of Da Nang) should contact the British Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City. You can also contact the Business Link network by calling their enquiry line in the UK on 0845 600 9006.
Our International Trade Teams in the Business Links comprise International Trade Advisers from both the private and public sectors – many with practical experience of exporting successfully – and their support teams, funded by UK Trade & Investment and managed by nine International Trade Directors. They can help you tap into the wealth of information, advice and support to make the right decisions about your export strategy.
How we can help:
The Department for International Trade (DIT) was established in 2016 as a new government department with a mandate to promote British trade across the world and ensure that the UK takes advantage of the huge opportunities open to us. DIT has four core responsibilities:
•Developing, coordinating and delivering a new trade and investment policy to promote UK business across the globe;
•Developing an negotiating free trade agreements and market access deals with non-EU countries;
•Negotiating plurilateral trade deals (focussed on specific sectors or products);
•Providing operation support for exports and facilitating inward and outward investment. The DIT team in Vietnam is based in both Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with the Consul-General in Ho Chi Minh City serving a dual role as Director of DIT for the whole of Vietnam.
We work very closely with the BBGV, as well as with the Government of Vietnam and British and Vietnamese companies..
