BALLET GISELLE

HBSO’s November begins with the return of the famous French ballet Giselle, a dramatic ballet revolving around love full of dreams with tragic ending. This return serves the high demand from our audience who could not attend the premier on September 21 and 22. The two sold-out nights speak for the successful performances staged by Yuki Hiroshige and Chloe Glemot.

As a result, HBSO has added for itself another highlight in the field of classical ballet, appreciated by the audience, besides the Nutcracker, Cinderella, Coppélia. Also, the most exciting and awaiting ballet during Christmas season the Nutcracker will be back this December.

BRAHMS’ SYMPHONY NO. 4

8pm on November 18th at Saigon Opera House

The concert features clarinetist Leon Bosch, HBSO’s guest artist from the Netherlands. Leon Bosch has been the solo clarinetist for the Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra since 1989, and performed with many orchestras from the Netherlands and Germany. Currently, he is the principal conductor of the Philharmonisch Orkest Mozart in Amsterdam and Symfonisch Blaasorkest Heemstede.

For this concert, Leon Bosch will be performing Clarinet Concerto No. 1 composed by Oscar Navarro and Concert Piece No. 2 in D Minor for 2 Clarinets & Orchestra composed by Felix Mendelssohn with the leading Vietnamese clarinetist Nguyen Tuan Loc.

Symphony No. 4 by Johannes Brahms will be in the second half of the concert. The concert will be under the baton of the talented conductor Lim Jun Oh.

A NIGHT OF DEBUSSY & DE FALLA

8pm on November 29th at Saigon Opera House

This last concert of November carries a special colour under the baton of guest conductor Raul Miguel Rodriguez from Spain. The entire program will be dedicated to the unique talents of the two prominent composers from the Impressionism and 20th Century Music, Claude Debussy and Manuel de Falla.

Conductor Raul Miguel Rodriguez won the Second prize at the International Orchestra Competition in London. Regarding his choices for this programme, he is meaning to give the audience a new musical space. As a result, the concert will present C.Debussy’s La Mer and Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune. The first half presents Manuel de Falla’s Noches en los Jardines de España with the performance of the talented pianist from Spain Hilario Segovia Badia.

This concert is promised to carry special feel to the audience.
