The BBGV would like to announce 13 members for the BBGV Board 2018-2019 as below.

1. Kenneth M Atkinson – Chairman

Ken Atkinson started his career in international banking and after 14 years, including assignments in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, he set up his own consultancy business, which became Grant Thornton Vietnam.

With over 40 years emerging market experience and 38 years Asian experience, Ken has undertaken corporate finance transactions in many emerging markets worldwide (Eastern Europe, the People’s Republic of China and several other countries in South East Asia).

Ken has been working almost exclusively in Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR during the last 27 years. His work has included financial advisory, transaction support, appraisal of large projects, and capacity building projects funded by multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors.

He has broad experience in advising Clients including commercial banks on project appraisal, debt finance, loan restructuring and equity funding.


2. Christopher Jeffery – Vice Chair

Chris has been Dean of British University Vietnam for nearly 8 years and an active BBGV member for 7 Years. He is presently a Board Member based in Hanoi and has been active in all aspects of the Chamber in Hanoi, from Charity to Membership and also policy and advocacy.

Chris moved from Cass Business School in London where he was faculty and Director of Executive MBA, to help set up the University and been part of the leadership team from that point, being involved in the expansion and moving to the new 25 million$ campus at EcoPark.

He also is on the advisory board of United Nations International School Hanoi and Operation Smile and represents BBGV on the Vietnam Business Forum, where he is a board member.


3. Tom Vaizey – Vice Chair

Tom is senior legal counsel with Dragon Capital Group, a Vietnam-focused asset manager. He is an English-qualified solicitor. Tom has spent most of his career in Asia, having worked in Hong Kong, India and Thailand as well as Vietnam. In addition to assisting BBGV with legal and corporate secretarial matters, Tom sits on the business and social events committee, and is occasional quiz master at BBGV quiz nights. Tom is married with two children.



4. Rick Yvanovich FCMA CGMA FCPA MSc – Treasurer

Entrepreneur, Techie, Brit, bean counter, coach, baby boomer, BBGV Board Member since 6/2014 and Treasurer since 12/2014 with a focus on Finance and the Business Centre.

Posted to BP China as Finance Manager then relocated to BP Vietnam in 1990 makes Rick likely the longest Brit in Vietnam.

One of the ‘group of 4’ responsible for the “BP Compound” and co-founder of the Saigon Hash House Harriers.

Chairman AMCHAM HCMC ICT Group, ex-Chairman Eurocham ICT Sector Committee, member School Advisory Committee RMIT Melbourne, Chairman Industry Advisory Committee RMIT Vietnam, CIMA assessor, member South East Asia Regional Board CIMA (vice-Chairman 2014-15, Chairman 2015-16), Co-founder and Vice-Chairman of International Project Management Association of Vietnam, founder/co-founder of multiple start-ups.

Rick’s worked for 30+ years in supermarkets, accounting profession, breweries, newsagents, defence manufacturing, IT, property development and BP, in the UK, China, Singapore, Switzerland and Vietnam.

Rick’s an active promoter of CIMA and a regular speaker on multiple topics including: Accounting, ICT, Talent, Project Management, personal development, Doing Business in Vietnam, and UK-Vietnam / US-Vietnam trade and inward investment.


5. Alexander Falter – Board Member

Alex is Managing Director of ECCO Vietnam Ltd and is responsible for the production operations of the Danish brand in Vietnam.

Having joined ECCO in 2016 following an 8 year stint as founder of a sustainable fashion garment manufacturer in Northern Vietnam.

Alex has a broad range of experience at Managing Director level in the fashion and footwear sector along with turn-key project completion, supply chain management and stakeholder communication. Alex has a pan-European/Asian background having been born and raised in Switzerland and lived in the UK, Spain and for the past 10 years in Vietnam. Alex is married with 1 daughter. 


6. Matthew Martin – Board Member

Experienced Managing Director and C-level executive in banking technology and operations. Strategic thinker and visionary with track record of delivering organizational change and business development. Inspirational leader who has directed and developed senior leaders as well as operational teams to business excellence in emerging and developing markets. Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and organizational skills. Experienced and persuasive presenter and communicator with a calm but reassuring demeanor. An effective manager with the skills necessary to direct, train, and motivate staff to their fullest individual and team potential. Seasoned traveler, culturally fluent across South East Asia and the Middle East regions.



7. Nick Mahon – Board Member

Nick has been in Vietnam since August 2016 where he heads up the FDI / MNC banking team for HSBC. With offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Nick’s team of bankers provide coverage to the subsidiaries of global multinationals across a variety of industries.

Nick joined HSBC in 2000 and has done a variety of roles across Commercial and Retail Banking in the UK, China, USA, Hong Kong and now Vietnam. In his spare time Nick is into playing and watching most sports, travelling to new countries and consuming as much politics news as possible. Nick earned his bachelors degree in Modern History & Politics from the University of Liverpool.


8. Richard Leech – Board Member

Richard is an Executive Director of CBRE and has lived with his family in Hanoi since 2003. Richard has been an active BBGV Board Member for the last three years and has focused his attention on fundraising via successful events as the BBGV Fun Run and dispersing funds to worthy charities such as Blue Dragon with the building of a new kindergarden in a remote area 3 hours outside of Dien Bien Phu as well as two upgrades to the Huong La Disabled Centre in Bac Ninh.

 Richard is the co-founder of Advantage Property Services in Hanoi which is also the owning entity of the CBRE Cambodia office. Advantage Property Services offers Consultancy advice to local and foreign investors in all aspects of the dynamic property sector in the Indochina region, including Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.

 Over the last 30 years, Richard has been responsible for the development, leasing and management of many significant retail/commercial real estate projects in Southern Africa, and more recently in SE Asia. He became a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors seven years ago and is Vietnam’s representative and “Çountry Champion” for the International Council of Shopping Centre. A seasoned speaker at numerous retail conferences and property market updates, Richard also trains brokerage team on behalf of Clients and the Shopping Centre Industry.


9. Trinh Thi Thanh Ha – Board Member

Ha Trinh is the APAC Chief Financial Officer at Harvey Nash Vietnam, where she manages the company’s finance function in Asia Pacific and is the Board member of IT Outsourcing division of the business. Ha has more than 19 years of experience directing financial operations, strategic planning, Tax & compliance, due diligent, M&A ranging from big four to a global listed company and to entrepreneur company including PricewaterhouseCoopers, BP Exploration, Navigos Group/Vietnamworks & ILA Vietnam.Vietnam. Ha currently is the Vice President of Vietnam ACCA Member Committee.



 10. Tri-Mai Hoang – Board Member

Tri-Mai Hoang is Country Head – Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia at Rolls Royce.

Joined Rolls-Royce in 2007, as the company first established presence in Vietnam, Tri-Mai played an instrumental role in the growth of Rolls Royce’s business in the country.

Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, Tri-Mai served as Deputy Director of Asia Commercial Bank, where she had responsibility for overall strategy development, sales and customer satisfaction for the bank’s automated teller-machine network.

Tri-Mai graduated from Reading University in the UK and has a Diploma of French Language and Civilization from Sorbonne University, Paris, France. She cares deeply about children, education and the environment which we all live in.


11. Bill Watson – Board Member

Bill is the Managing Director of Coats Phong Phu, and has been employed by Coats Group plc, a UK based FTSE 250 company, since November 2010. He received a degree in chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, and prior to his employment at Coats spent 24 years working in the textile and chemical industry with Milliken & Co. There he specialized in plastics and plastic applications areas, working extensively in the commercial arena in the USA and abroad. He has extensive experience managing diverse, multicultural teams and specific expertise in change management, building corporate culture, empowerment and teamwork, manufacturing productivity, and compliance. In the last 23 years, he has worked and lived throughout Asia and lived in Ho Chi Minh City for 7 years.


12. Thanh Bui – Board Member

Thanh Bui is an award-winning Australian-Vietnamese singer / song-writer, with numerous Gold-Records and Number 1 hit songs to his name. Upon returning to Vietnam in 2011, he is established as one of the leading artists in the country but more notably, Thanh has won the hearts of the people through his passion for raising the awareness of the importance of music / arts education in particular, and education in general, to develop a new generation of Vietnamese children.

Thanh founded SOUL Music Academy & Performing Arts Academy (SMPAA), an international-level education institution with a vision of teaching music to enhance a child’s Confidence,
Communication skills and Connectivity to the world but to also, develop new Vietnamese role-models for the country’s music industry. This path has led him to introducing the prestigious
Trinity College London Certifications for the first time in Vietnam in 2013.


13. Colin Terry – Board Member

Colin Terry has been living and working in Asia for almost 30 years and joined the Jardine Matheson Group in 1992. He has held a number of different financial and executive board level leadership roles within Jardines across a range of industries, including insurance, technology and manufacturing, and he is currently the Finance Director of Siam City Cement (Vietnam) Ltd. He has also previously served for several years as an advisor to a charitable organization.

Colin is originally from England, and is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. He is based in Ho Chi Minh city.
