CHARITY NGO SEMINAR: CHARITY WORK IN VIETNAM PAST AND PRESENT

BBGV

Monday, 29 Feb 2016

The first in the BBGV 2016 series of seminars aimed at supporting charities in Vietnam kicked off on Thursday 25th February with Board Member Paul Cleves MBE giving a talk on his experience of nearly 25 years in the charity sector. The series is designed to build bridges between our corporate members and large and small players in the charity sector and the seminar achieved this to perfection with roughly half the 40 attendees from each camp. After his polished talk a lot of networking took place. As the Founder of SCC in 1992 Paul’s experience stretches back a long way and this provided the context for his talk on the changing pattern of need in Vietnam and the importance of charities – and indeed the BBGV charity programme – adapting to this change.

We are finalising the series of talks but the theme of providing support for local organisations to improve their governance, reporting processes and appeal to donors from overseas won a lot of support. The recurring theme of raising money from local businesses was also raised.

Subsequent dates, topics and speakers will be announced shortly.
