By 2020, Vietnamese Government aim to boost tourism as a key economic sector, which is modern and professional with relatively uniform technical infrastructure; tourism products would have high quality, diversity and prestige, and they are imbued with national identities and able to compete with other countries in the region and the world. There are a number of regulations issued recently to attract FDI investors, foreign consultancy companies and visitors to Vietnam.

 

The webinar will provide the audiences the overview of Vietnam tourism regards to investment and policies for tourism development, international cooperation and state management in tourism as well as on going and potential projects in Vietnam.

1. Mr. Kenneth M Atkinson, Executive Chairman for Grant Thornton in Vietnam
Ken Atkinson is based in Ho Chi Minh City and is Executive Chairman for Grant Thornton in Vietnam. Ken has worked and lived in Vietnam since 1990. He was a founding member of the BBGV and stand for the BBGV Committee again last year. He is currently Chairman of the Eurocham Sector Committee and the VBF working group on Tourism and Hospitality. He is also Vice Chair of the Tourism Advisory Board.

2. Mr. Fred Burke, Managing Partner for Baker & McKenzie.
Mr. Burke has twenty-three years’ experience in the planning, negotiation and operation of foreign investment projects in Vietnam and China, as well as in the related issues of property development, construction, securities, finance, taxation, labor, regulatory compliance and dispute resolution. He advised on the establishment, tax planning, funding and implementation of the MGM Grand Ho Tram US$4 billion integrated resort project, the acquisition of a majority stake in the Halong Star Resort and Residential Development for a 157 hectare site in Halong Bay and some significant tourism projects in Vietnam.

 

3. Ms. My Phuong, General Director for Le Meridien (subsidiary of Tien Phuoc and 990 Company Limited).
Phuong is the CEO of Tien Phuoc Company Limited and Chairwoman of My My Trading & Services Company Limited. While Tien Phuoc Company Limited has its core business in real estate development, My My Trading & Services Company is focusing on medical industry with its world-class standard clinics: Victoria Healthcare My My Clinic. These two companies are some of the companies under her family business.

Being known as having analytical and strategic thinking, she is more result oriented in management style.With background from finance, Phuong has strengths in project evaluation/investment, financial modeling.  She also has intensive experiences in cooperating with foreign partners, investors, banking institutions
