Annual BBGV fun run to raise funds for
The British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV) is busily
preparing for its Annual Charity Fun Run this Sunday,
October! , in HCMC from 6:45 a.m.
At a news briefing the group's chairman, Ian Lydall,
announced that more than 3,000 participants will run,
walk or stroll along the four kilometers course through
the streets of HCMC.
This will be the seventh time that the BBGV have
arranged the event, which this year will also be raising
money for Thien Phuoc Foster Home for poor kids in Quang
Nam Province, in addition to many other charities from
in and around HCMC. The organizers expect to raise at
least US$23,000 this year, partially from entrance fee
donations of VND50,000 from each adult and VND25,000
from each child (aged 6 to 12) participant. However, the
participation cost also includes free refreshments
Furthermore, since all cash donations will be generously
matched in kind by the event's sponsors, the BBGV are
hoping entrants will feel able to make additional
contributions. The Diamond corporate sponsors are HSBC
and Prudential, the Gold sponsors BP and Customer
Insights, and the Silver sponsors Clarks, British
International School, Caravelle Hotel, Coca Cola, Long
Hai Security, New Zealand Natural, Sofitel Plaza Saigon,
The Landmark, amongst many others.
The fastest man and woman will also be lucky enough to
win a 6-month gym membership at the exclusive The
Landmark, with Nike shoe vouchers going to the
runners-up and the fastest boy and girl. Assorted other
random prizes include a two-night stay in a deluxe room
at the Hoi An Pacific Hotel, an International SOS
medical kit, and Nike shoe vouchers.
For entertainment and encouragement, The Sapphire Band
and the Saigon Saigon Bears have also kindly agreed to
perform for runners at the event that will start in
front of the Zoo and Botanical Garden.
Last year, the organizers managed to raise a magnificent
US$23,000 that was distributed amongst the An Giang
University's library, medical assistance for Christina
Noble Foundation, scholarships for poor high school and
tertiary students, contributions towards Operation Smile

Fun run to support the disadvantaged
HCM CITY — The British Business
Group Viet Nam (BBGV) in HCM City will hold a charity
walk in the city October 1 to benefit charities for
disadvantaged people in Viet Nam.
Fun Run for Charity 2006 is sponsored mainly by the
life insurance company Prudential Viet Nam and the Hong
ong and Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC).
The event is also supported by Viet Nam News, the
event's main media sponsor, as well as local and foreign
organizations and companies.
BBGV is encouraging any foreign and local organizations,
companies and individuals to participate, and it should
be noted that the "run" is also intended for all those
who simply wish to walk.
"Through the charity walk, we hope to encourage people
to give more attention and support to disadvantaged
people and children," said as, head of the BBGVs Charity
He also said organizers hope to attract 4,000 people
join the walk. The required donation to the fund is
VND50,000 (US$3.10) for adults..
Last y ear's walk collected US$23,000, which was sent
to charity organizations, open houses and universities
in HCM City and An Giang Province. The Christina Noble
Foundation, the Operation Smile in Viet Nam and the An
Giang University all benefited from last year's event.

Locals and expatriates walked and ran at a charity run
organized by the British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV)
on Le Duan Boulevard in downtown HCMC yesterday. The
group's chairman Ian Lydall told the Daily that the
seventh fundraiser attracted 3,500 participants of all
ages and raised some US$25,000 for charities in and
outside the city.
The organizers presented prizes
to the First Male Winner Stephen Hinwood, the First
Female Winner Shelley Klows, the First Teenager Winner
Elliot Hoare, the First Girl Winner Emma Minge and the
First Boy Winner Le Thanh Cong.
Last year, BBGV collected
US$23,000 for CDs and books for An Giang University's
library, medical assistance for Christina Noble
Foundation, scholarships for high school and tertiary
students from poor students and Operation Smile.

The British Business Group Vietnam (BBGV)

The annual event has been held since 2000. All
proceeds from the run go towards helping schools, poor
patients in need of medical care and disadvantaged
children in Viet Nam.
BBGV executive manager Jakki Lydall told a Thursday

The Fun Run will kick off at 6:45 a.m. at Saigon Zoo
on October 1. The runners will take Le Duan, Dong Khoi
and Ton Duc Thang streets to complete the circle
returning to the zoo.
The more runners, the bigger funding raised for
charity as the joining fee is VND50,000 per runner.
Participation is half price for a child six to 12 years
of age free for five years and under. Registration is

register in time to run with the others.
The fastest male and female runners will both win
prizes. There will also be prizes for the winner and
runner-up in the 12-18 age group as well as the winners
of the under 12 category. But everyone has a chance to
take home something as several random lucky surprises
will be distributed during the event.

chức cuộc chạy bộ tại TPHCM nhằm gây quỹ từ thiện để
