August opens for HBSO’s Autumn – Winter Programs with impressive performances by the participation of outstanding international guest artists.

With the return of famous conductor Le Phi Phi from Macedonia, who has set high quality concerts in Vietnam for many years. Vietnam Connection Music Festival 2018
Three concerts in Ho Chi Minh City are held at the Vietnam Connection Music Festival 2018 with the participation of top class performers from the United States, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
The first concert: Antonio Vivaldi Concerto “Four Seasons” at 8pm on August 18th at the Saigon Opera House
Especially highlighted by the participation of American violinist Stephanie Chase, Bronze medalist of the prestigious VII International Tchaikovsky Competition Moscow in 1982. The stage will be represented by outstanding Vietnamese artists the leading Vietnamese violinist Bui Cong Duy, the first prize winner and the gold medalist at the third young artist Tchaikovsky contest in 1997. Besides Vivaldi’s famous “Four Seasons” concerto, the show also introduced the Concerto Vivaldi’s violin violin and Violin Concerto for two violins Bach.
The second concert: The private concert of Quatour Arod from France, was held at 4pm on August 19th 2018 at the Opera House, a program shouldn’t be missed. Four young talented violinists have come together since 2013 and have reaped a number of international awards including the First Prize at the prestigious ARD Munich Competition, the Carl Nielsen Chamber Music Competition in Copenhagen in 2015 and at the FNAPEC Europe (Paris) in 2014. In 2017, they were honored as the “Next Generation BBC” for the 2017-2019 seasons and the ECHO New Star for the 2018-2019 seasons.
The Arod quartet is greeted by the most acclaimed audiences in France, England, Germany, Italy, Japan, Denmark … It will be a good luck to see them perform live with R. Schumann, J. Haydn, and Benjamin Attahir.
The third concert is at 8pm on Aug 19, 2018 at the Opera House. This is a concert with full of artists from USA, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. Besides the most famous names appeared in the two previous nights as Bui Cong Duy, Stephanie Chase, Zhan Shu, Vu Viet Chuong … also appeared other outstanding artists such as Ngo Hoang Quan (cello), Ngo Hoang Tung (Oboe), Michael Sinicropi (flute), John Scott (clarinet), Bronwyn Branerdt (cello), Grace Ho (cello) and Conductor Honna Tetsuji. This is considered the most heavyweight night with the classic works such as: Sinfonia Concertante for Oboe, Clarinet, Horn, Bassoon by W. A. Mozart; Brandenburg concerto No.2 by J.S.Bach; Concerto for 2 violins, 2 cellos of the head of A.Vivaldi; Introduction and Allegro for E. Elgar’s string quartet and orchestra …
Rodrigo’s Concierto De Aranjuez concert at 8:00 pm on August 29th, 2018 at the Opera House
The final show in August will be highly anticipated by the large number of classical guitarists. The program is attended by French conductor Claude Brendel. He is the director of the French Academy of Music, Ballet and Theater. Participants also invited guest artist Nguyen Thanh Hang from Paris. At 13, she won the FNUCMU Special Prize in Paris. With the reputation of being highly expressive, Thanh Hang has built up a very prestigious international performing career. In addition to Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez, the program also features a special composition for the vocal music of the French composer Charles Gounod, the famous Messe solennelle de Sainte-Cécile with the choir and three soloists.
