Kenneth M Atkinson
Ken Atkinson started his career in international banking and after 14 years, including assignments in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, he set up his own consultancy business, which became Grant Thornton Vietnam.
With over 40 years emerging market experience and 38 years Asian experience, Ken has undertaken corporate finance transactions in many emerging markets worldwide (Eastern Europe, the People’s Republic of China and several other countries in South East Asia).
Ken has been working almost exclusively in Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR during the last 27 years. His work has included financial advisory, transaction support, appraisal of large projects, and capacity building projects funded by multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors.
He has broad experience in advising Clients including commercial banks on project appraisal, debt finance, loan restructuring and equity funding.
Chris is Dean of the British University Vietnam, based in Hanoi. Prior to taking up the role in 2010, he was a senior teaching fellow at Cass Business School London where he taught for 15 years, specializing in Emerging Markets (Vietnam, Russia, Brazil, Argentina and China) as well as Customer Service and Satisfaction. He was also Director of the Executive MBA Programme which was taught in London, Dubai and China.
Chris is also BBGV representative and Board Member of the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF).
Tom is senior legal counsel with Dragon Capital Group, a Vietnam-focused asset manager. He is an English-qualified solicitor. Tom has spent most of his career in Asia, having worked in Hong Kong, India and Thailand as well as Vietnam. In addition to assisting BBGV with legal and corporate secretarial matters, Tom sits on the business and social events committee, and is occasional quiz master at BBGV quiz nights. Tom is married with two children.
Rick Yvanovich FCMA CGMA FCPA MSc
Entrepreneur, Techie, Brit, baby boomer. He’s worked for 30 years in: supermarkets, accounting profession, breweries, newsagents, defence manufacturing, IT, property development and BP, in the UK, China, Singapore, Switzerland and Vietnam.
Posted to China as Finance Manager with BP, in 1990 he relocated to Vietnam likely making him the longest Brit in Vietnam and probably the first Management Accountant and CIMA member too. In 1994 he founded TRG a tech company, with a vision of making your business shine by
providing stuff that works. It’s working as it’s still going and taken him to 39 of the 80 countries where TRG’s customers are. Another venture, expanded the vision to making you and your
business shine; enabling people to be the best that they can be.
Active on the tech start-up scene he’s co-founder of multiple tech start-ups and mentor / coach / investor to many others across UK, Europe and Asia.
Chairman of AMCHAM Vietnam ICT Committee and a regular Vietnam speaker on tech. Cofounder and Vice-Chair of the International Project Management Association Vietnam. MSc in Strategic Business Management from Manchester Metropolitan University. Chairman of SEA Regional Board, CIMA.
Tony has been appointed as the General Manager of Pullman Saigon Centre and the Area General Manager for Southern Vietnam of AccorHotels from May 2016. He has over twenty years of experience working in the hospitality industry at senior management level across the Asia-Pacific region, overseeing 10 operating three to five star hotels in Southern Vietnam from development phase to operations and responsible for driving key performance indicators & customer’s satisfaction. Tony also supports AccorHotels’ development teams to captivate potential owners and investors for expansion of brand networks in Vietnam.
Tony participates in regional brand management committees led by global brand division as for being in charge of the governance of the Pullman brand for Upper Southeast Asia & Northeast Asia.
In addition, Tony continues to give back to the hospitality community through teaching, advising, and training at the Auckland Institute of Studies where he has been an educator and Advisory Board member since 2013.
Sue has lived in Vietnam for 8 years now; Ho Chi Minh City for 6 of these and more recently Hanoi. Employed at the British International School, she has seen the increasing demand for a British education and Sue is enjoying working with a team of highly professional predominantly British teachers who believe in their mission of creating truly global citizens, learning together.
Sue started her international career in the United Arab Emirates, teaching in Al Ain and Dubai, before moving for a 6 year period to Jordan. She relishes the opportunities presented by working in international communities whilst discovering and embracing the culture of the host countries.
Born in Leyland, Lancashire and its close proximity to the Lake District has certainly fostered a love of the outdoors and walking in the hills. Her base in the UK is now a small village, in The National Park, called Elterwater which is nestled amongst the high peaks of the Langdales.
Tri-Mai Hoang is Managing Director – Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia at Rolls Royce. She is responsible for the total business performance of Rolls-Royce’s key sectors in this region: Aerospace, Marine and Energy.
Joined Rolls-Royce in 2007, as the company first established presence in Vietnam, Tri-Mai played an instrumental role in the growth of Rolls Royce’s business in the country.
Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, Tri-Mai served as Deputy Director of Asia Commercial Bank, where she had responsibility for overall strategy development, sales and customer satisfaction for the bank’s automated teller-machine network.
Tri-Mai graduated from Reading University in the UK and has a Diploma of French Language and Civilization from Sorbonne University, Paris, France. She cares deeply about children, education and the environment which we all live in.
Richard is an Executive Director of CBRE and has lived with his family in Hanoi since 2003. He currently focusses his attention on developing Advantage Property Services which is the owning entity of the CBRE Cambodia office as well as creating opportunities for Clients in the property sector in the Indochina region which includes Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar.
Over the last 25 years, Richard has been responsible for the development, leasing and management of many significant retail/commercial real estate projects in Southern Africa, and more recently in SE Asia. He became a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors six years ago and is Vietnam’s representative and “Country Champion” for the International Council of Shopping Centre. A seasoned speaker at numerous retail conferences and property market updates, Richard also trains brokerage team on behalf of Clients and the Shopping Centre Industry.
Nick has been in Vietnam since August 2016 where he heads up the FDI / MNC banking team for HSBC. With offices in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, Nick’s team of bankers provide coverage to the subsidiaries of global multinationals across a variety of industries.
Nick joined HSBC in 2000 and has done a variety of roles across Commercial and Retail Banking in the UK, China, USA, Hong Kong and now Vietnam. In his spare time Nick is into playing and watching most sports, travelling to new countries and consuming as much politics news as possible. Nick earned his bachelors degree in Modern History & Politics from the University of Liverpool.

Andrew is Cluster General Manager for Hilton Hanoi Opera and Hilton Garden Inn Hanoi. With over 27 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, 19 years with Hilton, he has managed properties in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam. During his recent ventures into New Zealand he won many accolades, most notably, New Zealand Ski Hotel of the Year – Queenstown, ASPA Spa of the Year – Queenstown, Conde Nast Travelers hottest new hotel – Queenstown and Hilton Worldwide Community hotel of the year, along with many HUKI ,AsiaPac and SEA internal Hilton awards for his work in Edinburgh, Brisbane, Melbourne and Hanoi.
His passion for working within the community to support youth development, saw him hold the position of Chairman of the Southern Institute of Technology Advisory Board, advising the institute on developing its business with community needs/support. Now working closely with Blue Dragon, YCI and REACH he is hoping Hilton Hotels Hanoi can contribute to the development of youth in Vietnam.
Anthony Rowlands is originally from South West Wales. In 2012 he moved to Vietnam to be Founding Principal of the British International School, Hanoi. In August 2017 Anthony moved to become Principal of BIS HCMC. Both schools are members of Nord Anglia Education which currently operates 43 premium schools in Europe, SE Asia, China, USA and Middle East.
Having lived in SE Asia in 4 different countries for 23 years, Anthony has a deep understanding of the region and the requirements of living and working in these countries. He was involved with the BBCT whilst living in Bangkok and he has a keen understanding of the culture of SE Asian countries and how to react in crisis management situations. Anthony has also developed a good understanding of the importance of British organisations and the role they play in SE Asia.
Trinh Thi Thanh Ha
Ha Trinh is the APAC Chief Financial Officer at Harvey Nash Vietnam, where she manages the company’s finance function in Asia Pacific and is the Board member of IT Outsourcing division of the business. Ha has more than 19 years of experience directing financial operations, strategic planning, Tax & compliance, due diligent, M&A ranging from big four to a global listed company and to entrepreneur company including PricewaterhouseCoopers, BP Exploration, Navigos Group/Vietnamworks & ILA Vietnam.
Bill is the Managing Director of Coats Phong Phu, and has been employed by Coats Group plc, a UK based FTSE 250 company, since November 2010. He received a degree in chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, USA, and prior to his employment at Coats spent 24 years working in the textile and chemical industry with Milliken & Co. There he specialized in plastics and plastic applications areas, working extensively in the commercial arena in the USA and abroad. He has extensive experience managing diverse, multicultural teams and specific expertise in change management, building corporate culture, empowerment and teamwork, manufacturing productivity, and compliance. In the last 23 years, he has worked and lived throughout Asia and lived in Ho Chi Minh City for 7 years.
