Kenneth M Atkinson


Ken Atkinson started his career in international banking and after 14 years, including assignments in Singapore, Hong Kong and Australia, he set up his own consultancy business, which became Grant Thornton Vietnam.

With over 40 years emerging market experience and 37 years Asian experience, Ken has undertaken corporate finance transactions in many emerging markets worldwide (Eastern Europe, the People’s Republic of China and several other countries in South East Asia).

Ken has been working almost exclusively in Vietnam, Cambodia and Lao PDR during the last 26 years. His work has included financial advisory, transaction support, appraisal of large projects, and capacity building projects funded by multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors.

He has broad experience in advising Clients including commercial banks on project appraisal, debt finance, loan restructuring and equity funding.

Chris Jeffery


Chris is Dean of the British University Vietnam, based in Hanoi. Prior to taking up the role he was a senior teaching fellow at Cass Business School London where he taught for 15 years, specializing in Emerging Markets (Vietnam, Russia, Brazil, Argentina and China) as well as Customer Service and Satisfaction. He was also Director of the Executive MBA Programme which was taught in London, Dubai and China.

Chris is also BBGV representative and Board Member of the Vietnam Business Forum (VBF).


Tom V

Tom Vaizey


Tom is senior legal counsel with Dragon Capital Group, a Vietnam-focused asset manager. He is an English-qualified solicitor.

Tom has spent most of his career in Asia, having worked in Hong Kong, India and Thailand as well as Vietnam.

In addition to assisting BBGV with legal and corporate secretarial matters, Tom sits on the business and social events committee, and is occasional quiz master at BBGV quiz nights.

Tom is married with two children.

Rick Yvanovich FCMA CGMA FCPA MSc


Rick is British and a Chartered Management Accountant with 30 years of diverse experiences including: Hospitality, Oil & Gas, Telecommunications, Financial Services, High Technology, Defence, Manufacturing, Not for Profit, Breweries, Property Development, Professional Services and the Accounting Profession. Rick’s first overseas posting was as Finance Manager for BP China followed by a posting to Vietnam in 1990 as Finance Manager to BP Exploration. Rick helped established BP’s various Vietnam operations in Exploration, Lubricants and LPG and has held various Finance and Directorship roles with BP in Asia.  A serial entrepreneur and consultant he has been directly involved in hundreds of client engagements in 39 countries and founded several businesses including TRG International and Profiles International SEA.

Rick is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), a Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA), a Fellow of CPA Australia, and has an MSc in Strategic Business Management from Manchester Metropolitan University, UK.



Samantha Campbell

Board Member

Samantha is the Managing Partner of the Vietnam practice of Hogan Lovells, a top ten global law firm. She is an English – qualified solicitor.

Samantha has been working in Vietnam since 2009. Before that time she practiced in London for more than 10 years advising on projects and transactions in both developed and emerging economies, including in Africa where she was born and brought up.

Samantha advises on a broad range of corporate and finance matters in Vietnam and further afield in the region. She is particularly active in the field of project and infrastructure development and financing, and has considerable experience of cross-border M&A and joint ventures across a number of industries.

Samantha is half French and is bilingual. She also speaks Russian.


Paul Cleves resized

Board Member

Paul runs Foodlines, sourcing frozen seafood and chilli sauces, high quality pepper and exotic spices for clients in Europe. This involves managing all aspects of the supply chain, including quality control and packaging from farm to factory to delivery into client custody and traceability of all products back to the source.

As a member of the Board of the BBGV, Paul has worked on the social sub-committee organising BBGV events, such as networking evenings and the St David, St George’s Day dinners as well as Christmas parties and other activities. He is also a regular quiz master and team member at BBGV quizzes. Paul sits on the charity sub-committee helping to organise the Fun Run and then overseeing disbursement of the funds raised to charities helping to improve the lives of needy people in Vietnam.

Alexander Falter

Board Member

Alex is the General Director for VERT COMPANY, an international garment manufacturer with production sites in Viet Nam and Myanmar.

Alex has been the founding partner of the business in Viet Nam since 2009 and in Myanmar since 2013.  Alex comes form a fashion supply chain background having previously worked in the designer shoe and accessories sector across Europe, Asia, India and the US.

Alex is an expert in sustainable, best practice manufacturing. Within Viet Nam he has realised the creation of a world standard garment factory employing 600 persons specialised in ethical garment production. He currently sells to all major European retailers who champion ethical, sustainable and best practice sourcing strategies.

Born and raised in Switzerland, Alex spent his University years in the UK but has lived in numerous countries in Europe and Asia. Born of an English mother and German father, Alex speaks English, French and Spanish fluently with a decent command of German, Danish and basic Viet Namese.

Fiona Nichols

Board Member

Fiona is the Marketing and Public Relations Manager at the British International School, Ho Chi Minh City. BIS HCMC (a member of the BIS Group of Schools) is the largest international school in Vietnam and one of the leading international schools in South East Asia.

Fiona sits on the Business and Social Events sub-committee which is focused on providing a professional and comprehensive portfolio of events to its existing membership.  She is committed to ensure that the Group continues to be recognised and respected as an exceptional community and business platform in Vietnam, with a strong focus on promoting and encouraging UK-Vietnam trade and investment in collaboration with the British Government.

Having lived and worked overseas for 25 years, Fiona has gained extensive international experience in Europe, United States, the Middle East and Asia, primarily in the education and business service sectors.  She has lived in Vietnam since 1996 and is married with three daughters.



Andrew Nisbet

Board Member

Andrew is Cluster General Manager for Hilton Hanoi Opera and Hilton Garden Inn Hanoi. With over 27 years' experience in the hospitality industry, 18 years with Hilton, he has managed properties in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and Vietnam. During his recent ventures into New Zealand he won many accolades, most notably, New Zealand Ski Hotel of the Year - Queenstown, ASPA Spa of the Year - Queenstown, Conde Nast Travelers hottest new hotel - Queenstown and Hilton Worldwide Community hotel of the year, along with many HUKI, AsiaPac and SEA internal Hilton awards for his work in Edinburgh, Brisbane, Melbourne and Hanoi.

His passion for working within the community to support youth development, saw him hold the position of Chairman of the Southern Institute of technology advisory board, advising the institute on developing its business with community needs/support. Now working closely with Blue Dragon, YCI and REACH he is hoping Hilton Hotels Hanoi can contribute to the development of youth in Vietnam.



Richard Leech

Board Member

Richard is the Executive Director of CBRE (Vietnam) Co., Ltd. He is responsible for managing the company’s Hanoi Office, which is staffed by over 80 real estate professionals. He coordinates all activities for CBRE in the North of Vietnam including new business development, client relations, property management, and brokerage. In addition, Richard is also responsible for all retail activities in the Indochina region which includes Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar with a specialized staff of over 15 retail consultants.

Over the last 25 years, Richard has been responsible for the development, leasing and management of many significant retail/commercial real estate projects in Southern Africa, and more recently in SE Asia. He became a Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors six years ago and is Vietnams representative for the International Council of Shopping Centre’s.

Tri-Mai Hoang

Board Member

Tri-Mai Hoang is Managing Director - Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia at Rolls-Royce. She is responsible for the total business performance of Rolls-Royce’s key sectors in country: Aerospace, Marine, Energy and Nuclear.

Joined Rolls-Royce in 2007, as the company first established presence in Vietnam, Tri-Mai played an instrumental role in the growth of Rolls-Royce’s business in the country.

Prior to joining Rolls-Royce, Tri-Mai served as Deputy Director of Asia Commercial Bank, where she had responsibility for overall strategy development, sales and customer satisfaction for the bank’s automated-teller-machine network.

Tri-Mai has a degree in Business Economics from Reading University in the UK and a Diploma of French Language and Civilization from Sorbonne University, Paris, France.


Nigel Piper

Board Member

Nigel is an experienced Banking professional, with over 20 years emerging market exposure in Asia and Africa after a solid foundation of Corporate and Capital Markets roles in the UK. Whilst at ABN AMRO he both chaired and was an active steering committee member of some of the most contentious debt restructuring negotiations seen in Asia. As Chief Risk Officer (CRO) in Hong Kong he was a key player in the acquisition of the Royal Bank of Scotland business in Hong Kong. As CRO in Cambodia he firmly established a robust Risk function in the country and provided overall leadership and direction to embedding a strong risk culture in all areas of the bank. Now as CRO in Vietnam Nigel has joined a dynamic team in ANZ that has established a strong and well respected presence in the country.

Nigel is married and has two grown up children. He enjoys playing golf and tennis and is a keen Rugby Union follower.




Anthony Rowlands

Board Member

Anthony Rowlands is originally from South West Wales. In 2012 he moved to Vietnam to be Founding Principal of the British International School, Hanoi. He continues to live in Hanoi and the school is in its third year of operation. The school is a member of the BIS Vietnam Group of Schools which currently operates four schools in the country.

Having lived in SE Asia in 4 different countries for 22 years, Anthony has a deep understanding of local people and the requirements of living and working in these countries. He was involved with the BBCT in Bangkok and he has a keen understanding of the politics of SE Asian countries and how to react in crisis management situations. Anthony has also developed a good understanding of the importance of British organisations and the role they play in SE Asian.



Jonathan Workman

Board Member

Jon is the Head of Consumer Healthcare, for the Rep Office of GlaxoSmithKline, an international Pharmaceutical / Consumer Product manufacturer and is responsible for the GSK business across Viet Nam, on icon brands such as Panadol, Sensodyne, Calcium Sandoz, Physiogel skincare and Aquafresh. Jon comes from an Fast Moving Consumer Goods marketing, sales and general management background, including 15 years working for Procter & Gamble across Europe in a wide variety of roles and functions. He joined GSK 5 years ago, and, before moving to Ho Chi Minh City in 2014, was Vice President of Sales in UK & Ireland.

Jon was born and educated in the UK (BA Hons from Durham University), and spent most of his adult life living in London, with stints in Dublin, Ireland, and Budapest, Hungary due to his P&G career.  He is married to Debbie, with two sons who are fully enjoying the experience of living in Ho Chi Minh City, and discovering so many new & similar aspects to life in the UK. The only drawback to living in Vietnam, apart from missing family, Jon believes, is not being able to watch live his beloved football team, Wycombe Wanderers.
